Welcome to Honeyfields Alpacas established in 2003 by owners Barbara and Doug Lomax. Our farm, on which we run approximately 60 alpacas, is located on the edge of Fiordland National Park in one of the most beautiful settings in southern New Zealand. We consider ourselves lucky to live in such a beautiful environment. Doug is fairly busy most of the year with his commercial beekeeping operaton although he lends a hand on the farm his spare(?)time. Barbara manages the farm and all things alpaca and is the main point of contact for Alpaca Sales and Stud Services.
We are totally committed to breeding top quality white and fawn alpacas with fine, soft handling, heavy cutting fleeces. A planned breeding programme is followed and we consider we are well on the way to achieving desired goals. In recent years Honeyfields has achieved a number of show successes, including championships, with alpacas born and bred here at Honeyfields - we see this as a measure of the success of our breeding programme.

Mating services: We have a number of top quality males available for ‘on farm’ or ‘mobile’ mating services. Go to our stud services page for further details

After sales support: We offer a free one day ‘hands on’ workshop on our farm covering basic alpaca husbandry for all new owners who purchase from us. Additionally, we well remember our first year of alpaca ownership and remain eternally grateful to the ever available support of the breeders from whom we bought our first alpacas. We are available to our clients anytime by phone day or night and consider that there is no such thing as a stupid question.

Animal husbandry services: If you live within 40 kms of Te Anau you may contract us to visit your alpaca farm on a regular basis and attend to toenail clipping, vaccinations, and health checks and arrange annual shearing

|
Agistment: A service for those people who do not have land but want to own one or more alpacas. We can undertake the care and management of your alpacas on our farm from as low as $10 per alpaca per week. You can set up a regular visit or we will email you regular updates and photos
|

|
Fibre sales: We have for sale pure alpaca knitting yarn from our own alpacas as well as raw and carded fleece for sale in a variety of colours. Contact us for more details

Education services: In addition to the new owners workshop we also offer, from time to time, more advanced courses and workshops on topics important to all alpaca breeders such as health, fibre, and breeding strategies to name but a few.
