It is difficult to find words to describe this simply outstanding young male. His fleece is fine, soft and silky with very thin lustrous pencils exhibiting a deep amplitude crimp which extends from his skin to the tip of the staple. Judges have commented that his fleece is incredibly consistent - it looks the same no matter where it is opened. In fact, despite being medium fawn in colour, Sutherland now has 17 Championship ribbons to his credit (see below) since his first big win, Champion Junior Male at the 2008 NZ National Alpaca Expo. His sire, Premier Fernando who has been skin tested and approved as an SRS® wool male by Dr Jim Watts, was only 22 micron on his 6th shear whilst his dam, Anna was only 23.8 on her 7th shear.   Anna is sired by Inti and comes from a top class Brigantine dam who has produced several champions and certified males.    Sutherland has 15 cria on the ground and another  crop due this year.  As the icing the cake we are delighted to report that his progeny are already achieving broad ribbons in the show ring - Champion Brown and Champion Coloured Huacaya at Waikato Show 2011
